ShakeOut 2026

UC's annual ShakeOut is happening on Thursday 8th October, 10:30am - 2:00pm, on C-Block Lawn. ShakeOut is a national earthquake education campaign where people across Aotearoa can practice Drop, Cover, Hold and learn about what their local emergency services offer in an emergency. UC Emergency Management has partnered with the SVA for this year's campaign, as our roots stem back to earthquake support. To help this campaign run smoothly, UC Emergency Management is looking for student volunteers to give an hour of their day to help set up, promote earthquake information, and pack down.

Set up includes:

• Putting up flags

• Putting up trestle tables

• Creating displays

Campus promotion includes:

• Handing out stickers, lollies, and info pamphlets to students

Pack down:

• Take down the flags and tables

• Help return the equipment to UC's Emergency Operations Centre

Register your availability - you can sign up for more than one time slot! There will be food and drink available to volunteers throughout their shifts.
