    Event description

A journey of creation and connection…

    About:
Our two-day drum birthing workshops offer a transformative and spiritually enriching experience as you embark on the sacred journey of creating your own shamanic drum. At the heart of this workshop is the profound connection between the participant and their drum. Throughout the process, participants select the hide that resonates most with them, and are guided in the intricate art of stringing the drum, and are fully supported in the potential for healing that can arise as part of the process. This hands-on approach ensures that each drum is not only a work of art but also a vessel for healing and personal growth.

The intimate connection between creator and instrument fosters a deep sense of reverence and respect for the shamanic drum, which continues to resonate within the individual long after the workshop concludes.

These workshops provide a profound opportunity for personal growth, self-discovery, and a heightened spiritual connection, making them a truly enriching experience.

About the Shamanic Drum / Frame Drum

The world’s oldest known drum is the frame drum.

As a round container that vibrates life, with its frame that is a circle, it is an ancient feminine symbol.

The Drum is pan-cultural, an instrument and medicine tool that spans across cultures from the early civilisations, and as such is one that is accessible to all people of all cultures. We acknowledge the earliest known origins of drummers being women in the ancient priestess cultures, and the long history of drumming as an oftentimes core element of culture, spirituality, and medicine around the world.

    Details:

Location: Allambie Heights. We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Saltwater People.

Timing: held over an evening (Friday 6.30pm - approx 8.30pm) and the following day (Saturday 9am - approx 3pm)

    Flow of the drum birthing:

    DAY 1

Friday evening, we gather in ceremony, and you will choose the hide you will be working with (the hide actually chooses you). We will work with goat hides and 15” drum frames made from Paulownia wood. We will then drop into a drum journey to connect to our animals (hide) and start the process of transforming and preparing our hides for our birthing journey the next day.

    DAY 2

Saturday morning, we gather again and journey with the Crystal Alchemy Bowls to set intentions and create sacred space for the day ahead. This day is dedicated to the weaving and birthing of our drums. We expect to finish around 3pm, however leave the afternoon free so that you can finish at your own pace. We recommend keeping the evening free so you can have a gentle quiet night to rest and integrate. Substantial snacks and refreshments are included.
