DJ Luv You (Ophelia Bakowski) is a non-binary DJ and multidisciplinary artist. Their sets range from light and joyful rare groove to playful high-energy club selections, often blending the influences of 90s House, Rave, and Progressive with contemporary left-field dance music.

As a resident host on stations Skylab Radio (Melbourne) and LYL Radio (Paris), Ophelia is a heavily engaged member of the local scene; Using their platforms and opportunities to always highlight the productions of womxn, queer and non-binary folk. In early 2020, this lead them to founding LUNA Blessings, a community-minded queer party that focuses on booking FLINTA artists to create safe and inclusive dance spaces. 

2023 saw DJ Luv You embark on their first European tour. Kicking things off with appearances at Kala Festival, iBoat, Macadam, Re:mise, Renate, WHOLE Festival, Fèmmme Fraîche, Electrosanne, and PIP Den Haag amoungst 21 shows across 15 cities, and they’ve only continued their ascendancy into 2024 with a stunning set of shows in support of the likes of Roza Terenzi, Maara, Angel D’lite, DJ Fuckoff, Ciel, Dee Diggs + more over the Summer, and they're fresh off another wildly successful second tour of Europe in 2024!

What makes a DJ Luv You gig special is their infectious enthusiasm and energy behind the decks. You can tell they’d just as quickly be amongst the dancers in the front, as up on stage riding the grooves.

To illuminate your way through the evening, we've enlisted a team of sonic Sailor Scouts to play support, featuring (in alphabetical order):

We'll have a small allocation of online tickets available.

Once those online tickets are sold out, tickets will be available on the door pending capacity - so don't hesitate, buy your ticket now to guarantee your spot on the dancefloor!

You can also choose to make an additional donation via Humanitix to help subsidise & cover the cost of a ticket for someone on no/low income, or even just to show us some love and help us pay the bills 😘

🎵 NOTES FOR THE EVENING 🎶

We respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we hold this event, the Turrbal & Jagera/Yuggera peoples and pay respects to Elders, past and present - and also pay respects and offer our love to the First Nations community attending our event. We recognise that Sovereignty was never ceded and that we live and gather on stolen land.

~ As always, try not to assume gender, sexuality, or pronouns – if you’re chatting and vibing with someone, it’s probably worth briefly asking for their pronouns - and don’t make it into big deal if you get ‘em wrong: just say a quick sorry and move it along.

~ Consent is key – ask before touching and await a clear response; fuck yes or no thank you!

~ Be respectful and considerate – do your bit to make the space safer and more comfortable for others: a party is only as good as the people attending, and we all have a role to play in having the best night ever!

~ Racist, sexist, ableist, homophobic, or transphobic behaviour/attitudes will not be tolerated. Please see Shandy team members, barstaff or security if someone is making you uncomfortable.

~ We want people to feel as safe and welcome as possible, so please feel free to message the Shandy Instagram or Facebook page with any queries or concerns.

♿️👁 ACCESS 👂🔊

~ Parts of the venue have some limited wheelchair accessibility: there is a slope leading from the street and up the laneway into the venue. The toilets in Winn Lane are not accessible, but accessible toilets are located in Bakery and California Lanes nearby. The area with bar service is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible due to a large step into the indoor part of the venue, but look out for Shandy’s Creative Producer, Thomas (IG: @toemass) or one of QUIVR's Mummas, Hol (@hol_hibbo), and they'll happily arrange for a bartender to come out and grab your order.

~ Strobe lights will not be used during the event and we will avoid the use of any strobe effect in our lighting.

~With regard to sensory concerns, the space is an outdoor space in the Valley, but there are some quieter indoor spaces that may be suitable for a lower sensory environment.
