As housing becomes increasingly expensive and the ecological impacts of how we live become harder to ignore, what might we gain by sharing more?
Join the Degrowth Network and New Economy Network Australia (NENA) for the launch of Sharing Where We Live, a new booklet exploring how we can live more affordably, sustainably and communally.
Drawing on practical tips and stories from people with experience across different living arrangements, the booklet invites us to expand our ideas about what a home — and a household — can look like.
This panel and community discussion will bring together people with experience of shared housing, co-housing, ecovillages and other forms of communal living to explore both the possibilities and practical realities of sharing where we live. We’ll consider how different approaches can reduce living costs and resource consumption, strengthen relationships and community, and challenge some of our assumptions about private space, ownership and the way our homes are organised.
Most importantly, this is a conversation about practical possibilities. Whether you're curious about sharing more within your existing household, considering shared or communal housing, or simply interested in alternatives to conventional housing models, the session will offer ideas and experiences to learn from.
Participants will receive access to the new Sharing Where We Live booklet and leave with practical ideas and inspiration for imagining different ways of living.
This session is part of Healthy Humane Habitats Month: Reimagining how we live, together.
(The event starts at 6pm AEST and 7pm AEDT)
