As part of our Sustainable House Day Retrofitting Week, this Expert Session will bring you presentations by experts on building science, energy efficiency and more who can help you get your home off gas.

In the second half of our webinar, we'll open up a panel discussion and Q&A session with our experts and some of our Sustainable House Day homeowners, who will share their first-hand experience of their journey away from fossil fuels. You can find links to their house profiles below.

Jenny Edwards, Owner, Managing Director & Lead Scientist at Light House Architecture and Science

Jenny Edwards is the owner of Light House Architecture and Science, a multi-award-winning business with 15 staff that integrates science with the architectural process to deliver highly efficient, climate resilient homes in the ACT region. She is not an architect. Jenny has a Masters degree in science and is an ACT licensed Building Energy Efficiency Assessor. She’s been doing theoretical testing of designs using thermal performance simulation software, and physical building-envelope testing of built projects, since 2009 (and is very proud of her thermal camera and blower door). Jenny's home, which she designed, is open virtually for Sustainable House Day under the name Canberra Beach House.

Richard Keech, Freelance Consultant in Building Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at New Energy Thinking

Richard is an engineer, consultant and author with particular interest in renewable energy and energy efficiency. He has masters degrees in both Engineering (Electronics) and Environment (Energy Efficiency). He was a key author of the Zero Carbon Australia Buildings Plan and a regular contributor to Renew's publications on topics related to energy efficiency. Richard lives in Melbourne with his family in their zero-carbon home.

Dean Lombard, Policy and Research Manager at Renew

Dean is responsible for policy analysis and advocacy in national and state energy markets, with an emphasis on making the energy system work better for residential consumers while also reducing its environmental impact. He's passionate about ensuring that no-one is left behind as we transition to a clean energy future. Qualified as a social worker, Dean worked in several community development roles followed by a decade in energy policy advocacy for the Victorian Council of Social Service before joining Renew in 2016

Sustainable House Day is a national event by Renew, a non-profit organisation.
