Join a panel of home energy rating experts from the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) to learn how simple design changes can improve the energy efficiency of your new or existing home and keep your family comfortable year round.  

Speakers

Jenny Edwards, Light House Architecture and Science

Jenny Edwards is the owner of Light House Architecture and Science, a multi-award-winning business with 15 staff that integrates science with the architectural process to deliver highly efficient, climate resilient homes in the ACT region. She is not an architect. Jenny has a Masters degree in science and is an ACT licensed Building Energy Efficiency Assessor. She’s been doing theoretical testing of designs using thermal performance simulation software, and physical building-envelope testing of built projects, since 2009 (and is very proud of her thermal camera and blower door). Jenny's home, which she designed, is open virtually for Sustainable House Day under the name Canberra Beach House.

Danielle King, Director, Sustainability Advisor, Educator

Green Moves Aust & Green Building Institute

Danielle King is a highly respected consultant focused on energy and emissions reduction and the sustainable built environment.  Her qualifications include a MBA (International Business), Diploma of Management, Sustainability and Carbon Accounting.  She is also a fully qualified and accredited Residential Efficiency Scorecard Assessor, Climate Active Registered Consultant and Educator in the field.  She has been actively practicing in the field for over 12 years and runs a successful sustainability business based in Melbourne.

Danielle works closely with the building and real estate sector and has participated in feedback to NatHERS, national educational requirements and National Construction Code updates.  She utilises NatHERS tools to assist householders gauge the comfort and efficiency of existing and new homes.

Danielle sits on several advisory boards and works with state government programs and other sectors to assist in creating efficient sustainable outcomes for both residential and commercial sectors. Danielle has presented many seminars on sustainable building and business topics and has had numerous journal articles published in a variety of media.

        Built a new house for our family, four years ago using passive solar design. In the process of acquiring a building permit for a renovation/extension.

        Having previously built a new 8.1 Star house designed by F2 Design in Teesdale, west of Geelong, it was important that a move to Geelong did not mean sacrificing energy performance and comfort in an alterations and additions project.

Renew recognises that this event that takes place on the stolen lands of many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We will be directing 5% of all proceeds generated by these webinars to the Pay the Rent initiative, and 5% to Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network.
