    Event description

    What’s it all about?

Shibori is a traditional Japanese style of decorative dyeing - a bit like tie dye but also a bit more intentional. In this class we'll be combining shibori dyeing with sashiko embroidery to create lovely stitches and patterns.

Come along and combine art and textiles and you stitch your own patterns to be transformed through the dyeing process. We'll be dying cotton tote bags so your creative work can be both functional and shown off everyday!

In this Shibori class Robyn will help you design, prepare, stitch and dye. All materials provided.

This class doesn't require any sewing experience.

    What will we cover?

In this hands on class Robyn will cover:

    • History of sashiko and shibori - materials, uses, ingredients
    • Preparing fabrics, including basic sewing stitch and pattern making
    • Preparing dye
    • Dying process

All tools and materials provided to create a Shibori dyed tote bag.
