    Event description

It's time to SHINE... a light on Domestic and Family Violence and change the story in this country!

Join us for a long lunch with inspiring speakers, overlooking the incredible Mooloolaba beachfront, and raise money for programs and services offered by the Sunshine Coast's Lily House.

Because Domestic and Family Violence doesn't need to be the only story a person lives.

During the event we will be launching a special creative project raising awareness of the impacts of DFV and the transformation finding their voice has had on survivors.

DFV is a problem in this country, but it doesn't have to be.

    Jo Higgins

After working for 30 years in the Australian Public Service (Centrelink) and progressing to manage the national service delivery aspects of the families and childcare program Jo retired in 2018 and then began her volunteer role with Lily House.

Jo is now the Business Manager responsible for ensuring financial viability of Lily House, keeping the house itself running, providing Board reporting and writing and tracking grant opportunities. She also work with the women and their babies to teach the life skills program.

    Caroline Brunne

Through an act of unshakable courage, in 2022 Caroline Brunne self-published her debut book, More Than One Thing Can Be True – a story of survival. In her memoir, she shares her lived experience of surviving child sexual abuse, incest and trauma to highlight her story of bravery and resilience as well as the promise of healing and opening conversations for individuals and communities who have been affected by similar experiences.

Her story is a compelling account of healing despite the odds. It shares her journey of carrying decades of shame to a place of finally choosing to own and use her voice by speaking to the reality of trauma and the power we have to transform and heal.

Since releasing her memoir, Caroline has been called to share her lived experience as an expert contributor and survivor advocate speaking at various conferences around Australia and sharing her insights through interviews and media features.

In addition to her speaking and advocacy work, Caroline supports her coaching clients to focus on the power of transformation and how to live their lives beyond trauma.

Aligned in her purpose continuing to pave the way for survivors to remove the shame that has silenced them by owning their voices and knowing that they are so much more than what has happened to them.

Caroline is on a mission to not only change her world but to ignite and empower change in the world for survivors today and into the future.
