Shorebird Survey @ Spot on Marine
Description
Come along and get scientific by counting shorebirds for our survey at the East Point Saltpan and Mangroves, meeting at Spot on Marine. This evening survey should allow you close-up views of many species of shorebird as they rest on the beach at high tide. You will be joined by shorebird experts who will share their spotting scope and binoculars to give you the best view of shorebirds right on our doorstep!
Shorebirds are among the most threatened group of birds in the world, with habitat destruction and human disturbance key threats. This shorebird survey will add to the information that has been collected over many years, to help understand how and why shorebird populations are changing, to help protect our shorebirds for future generations. This event will focus on shorebird identification, and use the Birdata app.
Hats, sunscreen and a water bottle are encouraged, as well as enclosed footwear.
This event is beginner friendly and binoculars will be provided.
