Short Course - New Horizons: Directions in Holocaust Research and Education

At the Melbourne Holocaust Museum, we memorialise and preserve a history of the past, but we also seek to engage with the forefront of new directions in education and research. In this four-week course, four Holocaust researchers and educators will share some of those new directions.

Week One, October 5: "New Horizons in Holocaust Education". Delivered by MHM CEO, Dr Breann Fallon, this introduction to the course will look at the new directions being taken by Holocaust museums in engaging student and adult learners in an understanding of the Final Solution.

Week Two, October 12: "Religious Life During the Holocaust". Delivered by MHM Manager of Community and Corporate Programs, Dr Simon Holloway, this session will consider some of the response patterns of Orthodox Jews during the Holocaust, and will look to some of the decisions made by rabbis at the time.

Week Three, October 19: "Landscapes of the Holocaust". Delivered by MHM Co-President, Sue Hampel OAM, this session will consider the different locations of the Holocaust, both natural and constructed, and will explore how the Holocaust unfolded differently across those spaces.

Week Four, October 26: "The Holocaust and AI". Delivered by MHM Head of Exhibitions and Storytelling, Dr Daniel Haumschild, the conclusion to our course will look at the impact of Artificial Intelligence on Holocaust research, education and memorialisation.
