Local Shorts: Short Film Screening & Voiceless Fundraiser
Event description
A screening event to celebrate the incredible work of local Perth artists and filmmakers to help raise money to support Bluefields Films' newest project in production Voiceless.
We will be releasing the full catalogue of all the films being presented in a show guide closer to the event, so keep your eyes peeled for anyone you recognise.
Before and after the screenings themselves, we encourage guests to mingle and network with our many industry personalities that will be present, as well as with the creators of the films being presented. Take the opportunity to discuss your favourite perts of their film, or talk about how it came to be what it is. The bar will be open before and after the film screening for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments, so please enjoy.
Ultimately, this event is, however, a fundraiser for one particular local film in need of your support.
Voiceless:
Voiceless is a short film that follows a trio of boys in the 1970s - Jack, Will and Charles - as they try to escape a farm school run by the abusive Principal Henry. The film is inspired by the real history of farm schools in Australia, which operated during the twentieth century. The students at these institutions were often British child migrants who had been separated from their families under the assumption that they would find a better life in the colony.
We’ve found knowledge about the extent of the suffering child migrants faced is lacking amongst our target audiences, so we hope that Voiceless will raise awareness about this chapter of Australian history.
Production on Voiceless began in January of 2025 to an incredible start, but unfortunately, due to budget constraints, the production was unable to complete filming and now the film lies in and state of unfinished limbo.
We hope to raise money through this event to allow us to go back down south with our crew to complete filming and bring this incredible film to you ASAP.
We will also be presenting a small exclusive teaser of the film using the incredible footage we already have, to show the incredible quality our crew has managed to achieve on this project.
