Event description

Join Us for a Fascinating Floor Talk at the Redlands Coast Museum!

This Show 'n' Tell Focus: Highlighting History - A Floor Talk with Local Authors.

Hear from three passionate, self-published authors as they share the inspiration behind their books, the joys and challenges of writing, and the local tales that shaped their work.

Guest Speakers:-
Christine Leonard - Coochiemudlo: A Mariner’s Paradise
Christine is an Australian indie author who is drawn to social history and life-writing.
She is a regular blogger and short story writer with the Genealogy Society of Queensland and other family history sites.
Her third book, Coochiemudlo: A Mariner’s Paradise, was released in paperback in July 2025.
It’s a feel-good story about the highs and lows of a small island community in Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia, set in the 1960s, 1970s and beyond.

Fiona North Eastwood – Churning Butter
Fiona North Eastwood is a teacher-librarian and teacher of history in primary schools. Her quest to bring history to life in relevant and engaging ways led her to the Redlands Coast Museum. There she found real stories about real people and amazing artefacts to describe the everyday chore of making butter. This developed into a workshop with her classes in making butter. As usual, she documented this with photos and peppered it with historical facts to create an 'Olden Day Chores book about Churning Butter.

John Kunde  - The Kunde Family History in Birkdale
Join John as he shares the unexpected journey of writing and publishing his book The Kunde Family History in Birkdale. Discover the challenges he faced along the way and hear a glimpse of the story — from the family’s early days growing muscat and Hamburg grapes on their 10,000-vine vineyard, to the transformation of their farm into what is now Aquatic Paradise.
