Shunpike Social Club - Autumn 2024

The Shunpike Social Club Autumn course is here and we're excited! 

As ever, we welcome brass/reeds/guitars of all abilities (must have own instrument) and will provide samba-style percussion instruments for drummers of all abilities. 

Oi Musica's lead musician Marcus Britton is back to lead the tuned instrument section alongside Sam Ward-Hardy (percussion) and we'll continue to build the confidence of all players in the run up to an exciting (optional) performance on New Years Day in Portobello as part of Edinburgh's Hogmanay Festival! 

There's something for everyone in this course, with a combination of:

• learning new arrangements as a group
• re-capping tunes from the existing Shunpike repertoire
• devising original musical ideas as a group
• encouraging development of improvising skills

We'll also continue to use movement, singing, rhythm exercises and other elements of community music practice to enhance the street band experience beyond 'just playing music'.
