Description

SHYAC is excited to launch SHYAC Singers, a community choir-style performance group for youths aged 8-17, created especially to celebrate the 100th Birthday of Springett's Arcade. Over a series of fun weekly rehearsals, participants will learn a collection of uplifting songs under the guidance of experienced Choir Director Anna Zerner, to perform in a special pop-up performance as part of the birthday celebrations on the evening of Saturday 24 October.

This project is about more than just singing. It's an opportunity to make new friends, build confidence, connect with fellow performers, and be part of a unique community event honouring one of Bowral's most iconic landmarks. We're also proud to support Springett's Arcade, a valued SHYAC sponsor, by helping bring their centenary celebrations to life through music and performance. SHYAC will also be exploring additional opportunities for this group to perform at other events.

Participation in SHYAC Singers has been fully subsidised, meaning there is no cost to join. Because places are limited and rehearsals are provided free of charge, we ask that all participants commit to attending rehearsals regularly and make every effort to be present each week. Consistent attendance will help ensure the group sounds its best and that everyone feels confident and prepared for performances. Participants will need to ensure they are available for the final performance on the evening of Saturday 24 October.

As part of the experience, every singer will receive a SHYAC Singers performance t-shirt to wear as part of their uniform on the night of the celebrations.

Whether you're an experienced performer or simply love to sing, we'd love you to join us for this memorable community event. Come along, have fun, make new friends, and help us celebrate 100 years of Springett's Arcade through the joy of music!

SHYAC Singers will be rehearsing at Bowral High School's impressive new performing arts venue, The Theatre. Access to the venue is via Gate 6 on Park Road, Bowral, directly opposite the Bowral Tennis Courts.

IMPORTANT: To participate in 2026 SHYAC events, an annual membership is required per family.
