Description

This workshop is an exciting addition to SHYAC's school holiday offerings in 2026.

If you are 10-17*, and want to level up your stage makeup, get ready to learn from a true industry professional! Penny Clements is a highly experienced Makeup, Hair, Wig and Special Effects Artist and Educator, with more than 40 years of experience across film, television, theatre, opera and the beauty industry. Trained at the prestigious London College of Fashion, Penny began her career in London’s West End before working with the Royal Shakespeare Company and contributing to the very first production of Les Misérables.

Since moving to Australia, Penny has worked across major film and television productions, including the spectacular Moulin Rouge! and The Great Gatsby, as well as continuing her professional work with Opera Australia. She also wrote the Diploma of Specialist Makeup for TAFE NSW, bringing her wealth of real-world industry knowledge into education.

Now, Penny is bringing all of that experience to SHYAC! This is a fantastic opportunity for young performers to discover how makeup can transform a stage look, explore different theatrical aesthetics and learn tips and techniques from someone who has worked behind the scenes on some incredible productions.

For our one day make up workshop, we have the theme of the musical 'Hairspray!' Penny would love if you could come having researched the story, the era, the fashion and the makeup looks of the 1960s!

*If you are registering a child who is 10 or 11, please keep in mind all participants will require a basic knowledge of how to apply their own makeup, as this is not a beginner's course.

IMPORTANT: To participate in 2026 SHYAC events, an annual membership is required per family.
