Tone List presents Sia Ahmad (Canberra) & Nid Noi
Description
Two performances informed by ancestral research, archive-digging and improvisation.
DIY staple and outsider-indie frontrunner Sia Ahmad joins us as part of a chance trip to Boorloo. She'll share her new practice of archive-digging improvisation "using archival cassettes and field recordings from the last 25 years of my practice, everything from boombox recorded guitar noise as a teenager, dictaphone documents of communal prayer songs from my dad's village in Bangladesh right up to the sound of my children and song demos captured to iPhone."
Also performing is the first Tone List set by Nid Noi (a.k.a. Fynn Evans-Ocharern), an accomplished young violinist beginning to experiment with solo improvisation using electronics & fragments of Thai melodies.
