Event description

When a child is diagnosed with disability, it touches every part of family life. Siblings often carry their own emotions, questions, and challenges, sometimes quietly, and in ways that can be hard to see. Recognising and supporting their experience helps nurture connection, wellbeing, and resilience across the whole family.

Join us for a warm and informative conversation with Siblings Australia as we explore:

  • The emotional and psychological impacts on siblings
  • How siblings make sense of diagnosis at different ages
  • Communicating openly and supportively with siblings
  • Balancing time and attention across the family
  • The unique strengths and challenges siblings can carry

This session offers a gentle space to reflect on how we can support all our children because every story in the family matters.

This webinar is part of a five-part series hosted by Belongside Families in partnership with Siblings Australia. Across the series, we explore the sibling experience through a mix of expert presentations and thoughtful conversations with parents and professionals. Each session offers practical tools and reflections to help you support siblings and navigate family life.

Supporting Siblings: A 5-Part Webinar Series

Siblings are deeply affected when a child in the family has disability, developmental delay, medical needs, or autism. This five-part webinar series shines a light on their experiences, their strengths, and the support they need.

Together with Siblings Australia, we’ll explore the sibling perspective from every angle, combining expert presentations with real, thoughtful conversations between parents, carers, and professionals.

Each session offers practical strategies, evidence-based guidance, and lived insights to help families strengthen relationships, build resilience, and make space for all children’s needs in your family.

Join us for Supporting Siblings to build a deeper understanding of the sibling experience.
