Event description

Looking for a meaningful and fun activity for your sibling child during the new year school holidays? Why not have them join us for a special delivery of our nationally recognised SibWorks program, designed for sibling children aged 8-12 who have a brother or sister with a disability. Hosted by Siblings Australia, the workshop will take place at our city fringe location (7 George Street, Stepney) across two days with a final group activity hosted on Friday, January 24. The two workshop days will run from 9.30am to 4pm each day with a choice of attendance from Mon - Tues (Jan 20 to Jan 21) or Weds - Thurs (Jan 22 to Jan 23). The activity day on Friday January 24 will be hosted off-site by a third party (details to follow).

Led by a qualified SibWorks facilitator, and generously supported by Variety SA, the program offers a supportive and engaging environment where sibling children can connect with others who share similar experiences. The program is designed to support siblings by building their emotional wellbeing, resilience, and connecting with others who share the same experience. Upon completion of the course, participants will:

  • understand more about disability and functional challenges
  • feel less alone
  • learn new ways to deal with tricky feelings
  • develop coping skills they can use
  • feel more positive about themselves as siblings

The program will be delivered across two days where participants will enjoy fun activities plus a group celebration event. Morning/Afternoon tea and lunch are provided, but please ensure you advise of any dietary requirements in your child's registration.

Cost: The workshop has been generously subsidised by Variety SA and registration for the 2-day workshop and activity day is only $100 per person (payment can be made via instalments, if you'd like to use this option please get in touch with us at info@siblings australia.org.au).

Places are limited, with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 participants required for the successful delivery of each workshop group
.

Don’t miss this opportunity for your sibling child to build connections, develop coping skills, and have fun in a safe, nurturing space during the school holidays!
