Event description

Sideway is thrilled to be hosting two of Australia’s best for your long weekend: Vintage Crop and GEE TEE. Doors at 6pm.

Geelong’s Vintage Crop is angular rock n roll with a laid back yet frantic edge. Forming in 2012, their style of slicing, jerky guitar music has made them one of Australian punk's favourites over the last decade alongside Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Pinch Points, Benchpress, Alien Nosejob. The band released their first album (TV Organs) in 2017 & haven’t relented since, releasing a total of 4 albums in 6 years moving from muddy, garage rock to post-punk. Their latest work “Kibitzer” showcases their signature tight guitar licks and robust rhythm section. Teaming up again with iconic record labels Anti- Fade (AUS) & Upset The Rhythm (UK), “Kibitzer” is the band sounding truer to form than ever.

Based in Sydney and lead by the iconic Kel Mason, GEE TEE is a band of maniacal rock n roll miscreants that's been blowing drooly-punk minds for the past few years with a rash of out-of-print records and ridiculous videos that have bounced around the proper channels of the internet underbelly. A white hot set on the web-only Gonerfest 17 was greeted with cheers of joy, and ultimately re-issued as a cassette and LP. They made it over in full three-dimensional form for Gonerfest 19 and a completely unhinged US tour in 2022. Goner recently unleashed their new album -- Goodnight Neanderthal -- ten blasts of the spazzy lo-fi attack you know and love, full of buzzy guitars, cheap synths and earworm hooks that demand to be sung in the shower. Or in your car. Or on your bike. Get on board or get out of the way.

Vanishing Sound is a new project (dare we say supergroup?) from David Fenderson and Peter K from Territory and Earache, Lach Thomas from Assassins 88 and Danger Beach and Steph from the legendary, near-mythical Slug. Continuing on their winding path into the fringes of folk and noise rock.
