The story behind the murder of Palestinian human rights activist, Awdah Hathaleen
Who was Awdah Hathaleen? What was contribution to promoting Palestinian rights?
Who killed Awdah Hathaleen? What’s the context within which he was murdered? And what happened to his killer?

How is the killing of Awdah related to the ethnic cleansing and land grab of the Occupied West Bank?
How is this incident related to the genocide in Gaza?
What practical things can we do to support and achieve justice and accountability for Awdah and for Palestine?
To answer all these questions and more, please join us in this revealing conversation with Palestinian human rights activist and Awdah's life friend Tariq Hathaleen (from Occupied Palestine), Australian human rights activist Robert Martin (Melbourne) and Russian Jewish human rights activist Andry X (from Occupied Palestine).
Tariq Hathaleen is a Palestinian teacher and activist from the village of Um Al Khair in the South Hebron Hills. As both an educator and an advocate, he strives to empower others through knowledge and to stand firmly against injustice. Tariq carries with me the memory and friendship of the martyr Awdah Al Hathaleen, whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire my path. Through teaching and activism, Tariq seeks to honour Awdah's legacy and contribute to building a future rooted in dignity, resilience, and hope.
Robert Martin is an Australian activist who went to Palestine to uncover the truth for himself — and what he found shattered the lies fed by Western governments and the media. Martin discovered Palestinians were not “terrorists,” but ordinary people — resilient, kind, and struggling for freedom. He witnessed the brutality of Israeli occupation first-hand: soldiers attacking unarmed civilians, homes destroyed, communities terrorised. Despite threats, he kept filming — determined to show the world.
Andry X is an independent reporter and human rights advocate based in the West Bank. Having left Russia to avoid political persecution in the light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Andry now focuses on human rights in the occupied West Bank. Since early 2023, he has worked with human rights organizations providing protective presence to vulnerable Palestinian communities under pressure from the Israeli army and the settler movement. Andrey has been providing on the ground video reports from the West Bank on his social media and through various publications.
