    Alexander Yau

Alexander Yau, an eminent pianist, has developed himself as a versatile and serious musician incorporating his many musical talents as a chamber musician, vocalist, clarinetist, conductor, composer and music arranger. Pianist Balazs Szokolay describes him - "His artistic taste is good enough not to make any kind of "show" even in the most brilliant parts of great masterworks".

A multiple prize winner of many international competitions, he has appeared with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Queensland Symphony Orchestra, performing the first three piano concertos of Rachmaninov and the mighty Brahms Concerto no.2. He has been invited to perform in the Canberra International Music Festival, Government House, Polish the Embassy of Australia, Phoenix Central Park and City Recital Hall in Sydney, as well as international unique venues such as Grieg’s home Troldhaugen in Norway, Villa Mosconi Bertani on the outskirts of Verona, Alice Tully Hall, Shanghai Expo, Google Headquarters in San Francisco, Alice Tully Hall and Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Lincoln Centre where he gave the US Premiere of Grete von Zieritz's Piano Sonata (1928) at the FOCUS festival last year.

Alexander graduated his Masters degree at the Juilliard School with Matti Raekallio, recently founded the Ole Bohn Chamber Orchestra in which he conducted Mozart’s Concerto no. 23 from the piano in its inaugural concert.

    Deborah de Graaff

Dr Deborah de Graaff, works as a clarinettist, recording artist, educator, music psychologist and administrator. Award winning clarinettist (ABC Young Performers 1982) and pedagogue, Deborah completed her PhD at UNSW in 2014 into efficient practice and motivational music psychology. She has been a solo performer and ABC recording artist for over 40 years, performing and winning prizes locally and internationally. As a chamber musician, she also performed in and administrated the ensemble Ku-ring-gai Virtuosi for 9 years, touring for the Department of Trade and Musica Viva and running a series sponsored by Telecom Australia in the Opera House venue “The Studio”. Working with children in youth orchestras, workshops and classes, she has been instrumental teaching in schools and her own private studio for over 40 years, including the Sydney Conservatorium high school and University. At the Conservatorium she also supervised graduate research. Her passion is motivational practise and working to inspire children with music performance. As well as facilitating may scholarship and prize winning students, many of her students now work professionally and run their own music collectives, ensembles and organisations. SILO SOUNDS is an ongoing music project for her adopted community in Harden Murrumburrah and is made possible with the support, commitment and dedication of a wonderful team of friends and local music lovers.
