SILVER SIRCUS // METAL Vinyl Launch at ELM HOUSE
Event description
Silver Sircus comes to the beautiful Elm House for a very special performance to celebrate the vinyl LP edition release of their 2025 album METAL.
Located in Mount Glorious village, Elm House is a boutique performance space with high ceilings, wooden walls and floors and gothic windows looking out onto the rainforest. Silver Sircus will be performing in this beautiful setting in full 6-piece acoustic ensemble formation, with very special guests Sarah Stockholm (in duo mode).
The album METAL celebrates the songs of UK synth pioneer and songwriter Gary Numan, radically reinterpreted to be led by piano, dual cellos and the distinctive vocals of Lucinda Shaw. Silver Sircus reimagine the material as dramatic chamber-music-inspired art songs, stripped back to shine a vivid, unique light on Numan's distinctive lyrics and melodies.
For this final performance of the year, the band will be curating a performance of key songs from METAL as well as a selection of material from their rich back catalogue, reworked for the extended chamber ensemble setting. The band's core duo of Lucinda Shaw and drummer/pianist James Lees will be joined by regular Silver Sircus members Wayne Jennings (cello), Mark Angel (guitars), Terry Dixon (bass) with special guests Danielle Bentley (cello) and Karl O'Shea (bass).

“They have brought a classical darkness to possibly the most famous electronic track ever of this period, “Cars.” The cellos are delightfully mournful and I doubt you have ever heard “Are Friends Electric?” quite like this. Genteel and floating on a carefully prepared cloud of dreams, with a feeling of being transported to a plane of deep reverence. The chamber music style with the deep tones of the cellos, induces a powerful and overwhelming wave of pleasure." - Adele Sinnamon, Onyx Music Reviews
"The band wrapped the audience in a wall of intricately patterned vibrations, becoming one with the deep resonating of the instruments bouncing off the wooden wall and around the studio, at one with Lucinda's dark, emotion-laden voice. The musicianship was exemplary, as always with Shaw and Lees' projects. It was the most intense and immersive polyvagal journey I've ever been on, and it left my body and mind buzzing all night." - Elisa Fraser, 4ZZZ
