Event description

Nothing spells home like the smell of freshly baked bread coming out of your kitchen. Are you dreaming of baking your own bread and fitting it into a busy lifestyle? If sourdough baking is too time consuming for your current life, this workshop is perfect for you.

Your instructor Martina will show you three ways to make easy and time efficient bread from basic ingredients most people have at home.

You will learn how to

  • make unleavened flatbreads for quick wraps
  • overnight bread rolls with minimal yeast, and
  • yeasted breads

We will have morning tea in the garden to try your creations. You will leave with all recipes, any leftovers we might have, and enough confidence to recreate these breads on a regular basis at home.

Meet Martina

Martina has been teaching permaculture and sustainability-related subjects for eight years. She is an avid home-baker and dabbles in many kitchen skills from fermenting and making simple cheese to healthy treats and baking bread. She works as the Education Lead at Perth City Farm and leads a teaching company called Permaculture Educators Alliance.

Our weekly farmer's market will be in full swing during your workshop, so it's worth arriving a little early to check out the stalls and maybe buy some fresh produce.

Perth City Farm is a community urban farm that supports connected, sustainable communities. Established on a former industrial site in East Perth, this polluted site has been lovingly rehabilitated by volunteers to become a Western Australian icon for environmental sustainability and community engagement. We provide space and opportunities to build community connections, and educate and enable people to live sustainably.
