Simple Handmade Art-Books - 22 Aug
Event description
Turn Paper Scraps into Beautiful Books!
Join this fun and hands-on workshop where you'll learn to create simple but striking handmade books — including Flutter (Maze), Slot & Tab, Four-Winds, and Explosion books. These unique book forms are perfect as heartfelt gifts or one-of-a-kind art journals.
No fancy supplies needed — we'll focus on reusing and upcycling! Bring along second-hand papers, old book covers, or visit your local op shop for treasure troves of creative materials.
Cost: $20 per session. (Sessions to run fortnightly from 22 August for 4 sessions) Bookings required for each session.
What to Bring:
A selection of scrap papers (plain, coloured, lined, graph, old book pages, etc.)
– include a few A4 and A3 sheets
Cardboard (recycled cereal/tissue boxes or old book covers)
Wrapping paper, gelli prints or artwork for decorating covers
Glue (UHU stick, Clag, or PVA + brush if using PVA)
Scissors, ruler, pencil, eraser
2–4 manilla folders (used is fine)
2–4 large envelopes or x-ray envelopes (~36 x 45cm)
Optional: bone folder or blunt tool (e.g. scissor handle), rotary cutter
We encourage upcycling – no need to buy new materials. Opportunity shops are a great source!
Each session includes clear, take-home instructions so you can keep making at home. Time permitting, you’ll make multiple versions in various sizes.
Come for the creativity, stay for the joy of making something meaningful with your hands.
