Sing & Sign with Young Children, with Dr. Anne Meeker Watson
Event description
Research shows that teaching sign language to all young children has a wide range of benefits, from enhancing social‐emotional and preliteracy skills to supporting positive parent‐child relationships. Join Anne Meeker Watson, the author of the Baby Sing & Sign book series, for a two-hour training where she will share easy and practical strategies for incorporating music, signing, and play into the daily lives of young children and their caring adults. Learn the benefits of signing key vocabulary words for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Anne’s engaging songs and fun-filled play activities support the language skills of young children at every stage of their development, including children who are talking.
Learning objectives:
Participants will practice using music instruction and sign language to teach intentional social and emotional skills to young children during everyday routines in both learning and family environments.
Learners will recognize the power of music-based instruction with ASL to support engagement, joy, and learning important pre-literacy and social- emotional skills.
* Participants will receive a certificate for 2 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) upon completion of the training.
