Singing our Future into Being
Description
Join us for a joyful afternoon of music, creativity and connection as we collaboratively create and record a new song inspired by the stories, hopes and ideas shaping a regenerative future for the Northern Rivers.
It is an opportunity to create something meaningful alongside some of our region's talented artists, musicians, singers, dancers and community members.
Together, we'll ground ourselves on Bundjalung Country, share stories about the place we love, explore rhythm and movement, write lyrics, discover melodies and bring an original song to life. With professional musicians supporting us throughout, everyone will have an opportunity to contribute to a song that celebrates our region and imagines the future we want to create together.
Meet the artists and facilitators
We're excited to be collaborating with an inspiring group of local artists:
The Human Sound Project — Leading and facilitating the experience, drawing on over 12 years of collaborative music-making with more than 11,000 participants across six continents.
Mitch King and Tess Eckert (Body as Country) — Movement facilitators supporting us to connect with our bodies, each other and Country through movement and rhythm.
Qing Mibilahm (Singing Dingo Choir) — Widjabul and Wia'bal artist and choir director, bringing his experience in collaborative singing and Bundjalung language music.
Together with live musicians, these artists will guide our collective song from the first ideas through to a shared musical creation.
Why join us?
Create alongside local artists — Collaborate with talented musicians, songwriters and movement facilitators, learning from one another as we create together.
Have your voice heard — Share your stories, hopes and ideas for the Northern Rivers and help shape an original song for our region.
Connect and create something lasting — Meet like-minded people, experience the joy of collective creativity and contribute to a recorded song that can be shared across our community.
No musical experience required! All voices and abilities are welcome. You don't need to be a confident singer or musician — just bring your curiosity and willingness to participate. Nobody will be asked to sing alone.
