This full-day, interactive event will give you the chance to learn from one of the world’s premier CCM teachers. Dr. Trineice will deliver a lecture about authenticity in Gospel, Soul, R&B and Jazz styles, with a focus on improvisation, interpretation, and melisma (riffs and runs). This will be followed by a practical group workshop, where you will get to vocally explore each of these styles. Finally, Dr. Trineice will conclude the day with a masterclass, where you will see an expert work with a diverse range of singers in contemporary music styles. There will also be a Q&A.

About Dr. Trineice Robinson-Martin

Dr. Trineice Robinson-Martin is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer, arranger, scholar, clinician, and educator. With 20 years of experience, Dr. Trineice continues to be a globally sought-after performer, clinician, educator, and author.

Dr. Trineice Robinson-Martin currently holds faculty positions at Princeton University, NJ, where she teaches private voice lessons, is the ensemble director of Jazz Vocal Collective Ensemble and lectures on African American music topics and voice pedagogy.

 The creator of Soul Ingredients® Methodology and founder of Soul Ingredients® Voice Studios, Robinson offers virtual and in-person voice teacher training courses globally. Based on her doctoral research, Dr. Robinson-Martin designed Soul Ingredients®, a teaching methodology for developing a singer’s musical style/interpretation in African American folk-based music styles (i.e., jazz, gospel, R&B, blues, etc.). 

This methodology shows students how to take their personal experiences, musical influences, and models and execute the various components in a personal manner to the singer/performer’s unique expression. 

In addition to her book “So You Want to Sing Gospel,” Dr. Trineice has contributed chapters to several textbooks and scholarly writings on the topics of voice and Black music history. In addition to books, Robinson-Martin’s published work can also be found in Downbeat Magazine, New York Times, Journal of Singing, Journal of Voice, and Voice and Speech.
