Description

Join designer Soyika Canteen of Waves of Elegance at the SewConscious Center for Circular Design for an immersive Sip & Sew workshop where you’ll learn how to design and construct your very own bucket hat from start to finish.

Over the course of this hands-on afternoon and evening, you’ll learn the fundamentals of bucket hat construction from understanding the pattern and cutting your materials to sewing and finishing your one-of-a-kind piece. Soyika, along with a team of experienced tailors and seamstresses, will be there to guide you through each step and provide personalized support along the way.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a custom bucket hat made by you and designed to fit you perfectly, plus new sewing skills you can take into your next creative project.

Your Workshop Includes

  • Eight (8) hours of hands-on instruction with designer Soyika Canteen and experienced sewing professionals

  • Step-by-step guidance as you sew your bucket hat from start to finish

  • Fabrics and supplies needed for the workshop

  • Access to SewConscious sewing equipment

  • Your completed custom bucket hat to take home

  • Refreshments and beverages throughout the workshop

  • A welcoming creative community of fellow makers interested in fashion, sewing, and circular design

What to Bring

Your hat size: Please measure the circumference of your head using a flexible measuring tape or a piece of string. Accurate measurements will help us create the best fit for your finished hat.

Your sewing machine (optional): Experienced sewers are encouraged to bring their own machine to make the learning process more familiar and comfortable. Don’t have a machine, or prefer to use one of ours? No problem! Sewing machines will be available to use during the workshop by request. To reserve a sewing machine, please email jclay@sewconsciousfashion.com after registering.

Your favorite beverage: BYOB – It’s a Sip & Sew! We’ll provide light refreshments and a selection of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. You’re also welcome to bring anything specific you’d like to sip on while you sew.

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is open to ages 18 and up. Participants must be 21+ to receive alcoholic beverages.

Some sewing experience is recommended, but all skill levels are welcome. If you’re brand new to sewing, just let us know when you register so we can make sure you have the support you need.
