The School of Law and Justice is delighted to announce Professor Jennifer Llewellyn, Chair in Restorative Justice at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia Canada as our distinguished guest speaker for this year's event.
Professor Llewellyn will deliver a lecture titled: Restorative Justice: Strengthening Democracy and the Rule of Law.
Across the globe, democracy and the rule of law face urgent and growing threats, eroding trust in each other and in our institutions. Restorative justice offers a powerful and principled path forward.
In the Sir Ninian Stephen Lecture, Professor Jennifer Llewellyn, will share insights from her decades of scholarship and practical experience advancing a restorative approach to justice. Drawing on examples taking a restorative approach within organizations, institutions, communities and nations around the world, she will explore how centring relationships and mutual understanding can overcome division, foster trust, and strengthen the foundations of peace, security, and democratic life.
