Description

SIR – the club night where you can feel SHAMELESS, INTIMATE, and RESPECTED – is returning from a winter break with a big dose of European queer techno! 🔴

SIR presents RATED R 🔴

SIR is an unapologetically inclusive techno party and safe haven for the LGBTQIA+ community, allies, and friends.

We are fizzing with excitement to welcome our dear friend and Paris queer techno powerhouse BEN MANSON back to Tāmaki Makaurau on Friday, 2 October for RATED R at Double Whammy!

Important notes:

  • Pre-sale: Monday, 24 August at 4pm

  • General sale: Tuesday, 25 August at 12pm

Pre-sale access is available first to the SIR mailing list and direct SIR channels on WhatsApp and Signal (read below).

Our last Auckland SIR was our biggest yet and demand was wild. Double Whammy! has strictly limited capacity and there will be NO DOOR SALES on the night.

If you know you’re coming, don’t leave it until October.

Have not been to SIR yet? Check out the photo gallery and listen to the DJ sets on our website: www.slapitruff.com

The program

We've got Ben back from Paris, one of Tāmaki's hottest rising DJs joining us for their SIR debut, and your resident ruffians behind the decks.

LINEUP:

🔴BEN MANSON (Less Drama, More Techno | Paris, FRA)

🔴Concussion (Tāmaki Makaurau)

🔴MBVR (SIR | Naarm <> Tāmaki Makaurau)

Dress Theme: ROUGE 🔴

RATED R. The R stands for ROUGE (RED).

For one night, Double Whammy! goes monochrome.

Scarlet. Cherry. Crimson. Oxblood.

Latex, lace, leather, sportswear, tailoring, sequins, mesh, a full head-to-toe fantasy or the one red thing you found five minutes before leaving the house.

Covered, cropped, camp, severe or barely there. There is no single way to wear it.

Dress up. Dress down. Just make it RED HOT.

Dressing in theme is strongly encouraged, but never at the expense of feeling like yourself. 💋

Coat check
  • Coat check will be available at the venue: 1 item per person (a provided bag or one item to hang on the coat rack). All proceeds going to charity: NZ Falcons!

  • You can prepay at the price of $2 when buying your ticket by selecting add-on or pay $5 cash at the venue

Get SIR Direct 📟

Instagram has become increasingly unreliable with finicky algorithms, censorship of queer pages and an increasing number of people wanting to disconnect. To combat this, we’re introducing new ways to hear directly from us for NZ or AUS updates (or both!).

We're launching SIR communities on WhatsApp and Signal for event announcements, pre-sales and important updates, without relying on whether a post happens to make it into your feed.

Join one, join both, ignore us entirely between parties. Your call.

Lineup

  • BEN MANSON

    BEN MANSON

[Less Drama, More Techno | Paris, FRA] We are beyond excited to welcome back to SIR our dear friend, the absolute powerhouse of queer techno BEN MANSON from Paris, France! Ben has been part of queer nightlife for more than 25 years, from legendary Paris clubs to dancefloors across Europe including Fuse Brussels, KitKatClub Berlin, Blitz Munich and Pratersauna Vienna. In 2015 he launched LESS DRAMA MORE TECHNO, his monthly party and platform for the deeper, darker side of his sound, followed by LDMT Records, supporting local and international queer artists. Ben's sets move through deep hypnotic techno, raw drums, groovy basslines and haunting melodies, with just enough industrial darkness around the edges. If you were there when he played SIR in 2024, you already know. If you weren't, now's your chance.

  • Concussion

    Concussion

[Tāmaki Makaurau] Making her SIR debut, Christy aka Concussion is a passionate Auckland-based DJ who blurs the lines between techno, trance and pop. She focuses on hot BPMs, grooves and high-energy tracks, so no two sets are the same. Her sets radiate the energy that has become her signature since she started DJing. Her recent highlights include appearances at Until Sunrise & Dreamland Festivals. She has shared the stage with Aidan Rudd and Berlin heavyweight MCMLXXXV (Herrensauna). She is tearing up the local techno scene and is a well-known resident of The Garage and Hypnosis Productions.

  • MBVR

[SIR | Naarm <> Tāmaki Makaurau] MBVR – Melbourne-based DJ and co-founder of the Auckland queer techno phenomenon SIR – is a rising talent behind the decks. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant and boundary-pushing Berlin queer techno scene, MBVR has brought his electrifying sound to New Zealand’s hottest parties, including The Naked World, Blackout, Hypnosis, Tender Buttons, SIR, and more. Now, he’s dipping his toes in the Australian techno scene having performed at Poof Doof’s Red Rave, Extra Dirty (Sydney), Barba, and Hanky. Known for cranking up the BPM and getting bodies hot and sweaty with his signature hypnotic tunes, MBVR isn’t afraid to slow things down either with deep, dirty basslines that make you feel every thud. He loves reviving the sounds of the past and giving queer pop anthems a fresh, reimagined twist, blending punchy basslines, unexpected mashups, and camp classics. But no matter the tempo or the vibe, one thing is certain: MBVR will always give you a happy ending.

  • Late To The Party

[SIR | Naarm <> Tāmaki Makaurau] Late To The Party crafts genre-fluid journeys through techno, house, italo and beyond, each set shaped by the energy of the floor. Whether opening, peaking, or closing with intent, his performances unfold in layered blends, unexpected turns, and multi-deck mashups that blur the familiar and the obscure. He’s ignited dancefloors across Aotearoa and Australia, from headline sets at EXTRA DIRTY (Sydney) to packed rooms at Inflation (Melbourne) and staple venues like Whammy Bar, Il Brutto, and Neck of the Woods in Auckland since 2022. As co-founder of SIR, he’s poured heart, music, and an unapologetically inclusive spirit into every SIR edition, and collaborated with collectives and promoters across the board to support safer, more expressive dancefloors for all.
