Find out how to apply for a Sir Roland Wilson scholarship for Australian Public Service employees.

The Sir Roland Wilson Scholarship is a three-year full-pay scholarship awarded to high performing EL1 and EL2 Australian Public Service (APS) employees to complete a PhD on a topic of national significance at The Australian National University.

This information session is for anyone interested in applying for a Sir Roland Wilson scholarship only. If you are interested in applying for the Pat Turner scholarship, please attend our session at 1pm 12 November.

This session will provide information about scholarship eligibility criteria, how to apply for a scholarship, and application deadlines.

Honouring the contribution of Australia’s longest-serving Secretary of the Treasury, the Sir Roland Wilson Foundation is a partnership between The Australian National University (ANU), Charles Darwin University (CDU) and the Australian Public Service (APS) to build public policy capability and leadership through postgraduate scholarships, professional development and networking opportunities. The Foundation was established in 1998 by a generous donation from the Wilson family as a partnership between ANU and the APS. In 2019, we expanded this partnership to include CDU.

The Foundation offers two scholarship programs:

the Sir Roland Wilson scholarship is a three year full-pay scholarship for PhD research at ANU for high performing EL1 and EL2 APS employees
the Sir Roland Wilson Pat Turner scholarship is a one-to-three-year, full-pay scholarship for any level of postgraduate study at ANU or CDU for high performing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander APS 4 to Senior Executive Service Band 1 employees.

These scholarships develop research, analytical and leadership skills, and support scholars to study topics of national significance and strategic importance to the APS at either ANU or CDU.
