MARCUS WHALE
Marcus Whale is a musician and performance-maker. Releasing music since the 2000s with groups Collarbones and BV and under his own name, his recorded output takes an agnostic and exploratory approach to genre. Solo albums often form a conceptual world and persona around this music: 2024 album Ecstasy draws a line between the ecstatic dancing at the rave and St. Teresa of Avila's masochistic encounters with the divine. Solo albums The Hunger and Inland Sea, and all five Collarbones albums have been nominated for the Australian Music Prize. Live shows draw from the spectacle of religious ritual, incorporating costume collaborations with Calli Comical, Megan Hanson, Chloe Corkran and Athena Thebus, and often moving off the stage and into the room.

NAOMI OLIVER

Naomi Oliver accompanies her soundscapes and experimental songs with live video mixing and synth vocals. Her practice includes sound and video, which often highlight technological defects and the lo-fi. This includes mediums such as corrupted digital imagery, audio cassette tape, static, feedback, and distortion (both visual and audio). She has performed at Soft Pedal II, curated by George Tillianakis at The Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre (2021), Lumière Festival at Mt Victoria (2022), Dream Alley Dream (2022) and Simmer curated by Monica Brooks at Penrith Regional Gallery (2023).

WYTCHINGS

Jenny Trinh is a Western Sydney artist who performs solo as Wytchings. Creating dreamy, film-inspired sounds evoking that of space and water, she has collaborated with artists like Red Rey, Leeroy New, Saskia Ellis & Jada Narkle to create accompanying soundscapes for their movement pieces, which have been showcased at Soft Centre, Sydney World Pride, Yirramboi Festival and Marrugeku. In addition to that, she sound designed Liquid Homelands, a queer, experimental radio project on FBi Radio’s Race Matters. Psamathe (2022), the final album in her Neptune trilogy, features ‘Fata Morgana’, the song nominated for Song of the Year at the FBi SMACs and part of the Wettest 100. In addition to her solo work as Wytchings, she is also in a band with her two longtime friends Kashif (Kash Bhai) & Zac (roomers): Heart Armour as well as Worlds Only, an intercontinental transient ambient group, featuring Alister Hill, Darren Lesaguis, Justin Tam (Tzekin), Reginald Harris & Thomas William Smith (T.Morimoto).

- The event takes place in and around a working factory. Working areas will be closed off with physical and visual barriers. However behind these barriers and markers will be potentially dangerous equipment and environments so supervision of children at all times is necessary. We ask attendees to make sure no one enters a closed-off area.
- The artist’s equipment and light installation will be set up in a publicly accessible area throughout the event. We’re asking attendees to make sure the artist’s equipment, light installation and PA are not touched.
- The loudness of the performances will be at a typical concert’s level. We recommend ear plugs for our younger audience or anyone concerned about noise levels.
- The light installation features some strobing and flashing light as well as haze, neither of which is used excessively.
- We reserve the right to postpone the event or move it to another venue. In either case, ticket holders will have the option to request a refund or keep their tickets for the updated venue or until a new date has been set.
- Photographers and videographers might be present during this event. Photos and videos of the event and the performances will be used for SIRC_UIT's and the artist's social media channels, websites and other relevant platforms. If you wish to discuss the removal of any published media, please contact us via email hi@sirc-uit.com. CCTV cameras are also in use throughout the venue.
- By purchasing tickets to this events, you agree to receive communication about the current and future SIRC_UIT events. A link to unsubscribe from this communication can be found at the bottom of our
emails. We respect your privacy and will not share your details with anyone outside of our organisation and the partners we work with to deliver our events.
- SIRC_UIT aims to provide a safe and inclusive space for its staff, performers and audience. We therefore have a zero tolerance policy against discrimination and harassment of any kind including racism, sexism, homophobia or predatory behaviour. Any behaviour that makes others feel uncomfortable will result in immediate removal.
