 SIRF Workshop - Continuous Improvement & LEAN for Process Industries Workshop

For decades now companies have attempting to follow the LEAN model for manufacturing based on the Toyota Production System to gain the combined benefits of highest quality, shortest lead times and lowest cost.

It should not be surprising that the more early successful adoptions of LEAN were also in industries that , like car factories , had assembly lines or cells within their manufacturing processes that made it was easier to apply the Toyota model. Some great successes however have also been achieved in applying other industries where the standard assembly examples and case studies are more difficult to apply. To some extent these successes have been achieved with a somewhat different perspective with some adaption of some of the tools and techniques to meet the differences in the nature of the process industries. Nonetheless, some of the tools SMED, TPM, Kaizen, Problem Solving, Visual Management still apply without much modification of approach from traditional TPS methods.

This workshop is a chance for those on a Continuous Improvement or LEAN journey in a process industry such Petro-Chemical, Dairy and other food , Fertiliser, Pulp & Paper, Metal manufacturing, pharmaceutical to name but a few to discuss with others on the same journey and share approaches.
