Event description

A Roundtable presented by SIRF Roundtables IMRt Eastern

Reliability Systems & Technologies

Industrial Reliability as we know is key to productivity and efficiency.

Reliability describes the ability of a system or component to function under stated conditions for a specified period of time.

To help us achieve this we often need to engage technical systems and equipment that help us detect the onset of failure, so as to provide predictions, update maintenance strategies, apply mitigations and contingencies or just be prepared for the event.

In this event we will be looking at 3 types of technologies and equipment.

  • Wireless Monitoring
  • Motion Amplification
  • Ultrasound

We will have presentations from GSV Reliability Products on the associated equipment and technologies with each followed by a user of the equipment and how they are implemented.

Join your peers and enjoy expert presentations from professionals in the field.

GVS understand the crucial aspect of Reliability in all industrial processes. Understating the need for industrial asset Reliability is why GVS was formed. Over time, GVS has become the leading supplier of condition monitoring and asset inspection technology in the Australia Pacific region.

 Wireless Monitoring

Wireless technology is now the preferred platform for online monitoring systems.

Monitor vibration and temperature with easy to install and maintenance free systems. Monitor more assets over greater distances, reach inaccessible and dangerous locations while being safely remote from the machine or process area.

Nathan OsbornManaging Director GVS Reliability Products Pty Ltd

Nathans experience begun as a Vibration Analyst VCATII. Roles included being part of the CM team at the world’s largest coal loader in Newcastle, NSW, Australia.
For the last 15 years Nathan has been involved in technical sales of reliability hardware to industry throughout Australasia. With the solid basis of a technical background Nathan enjoys working through client’s requirements and giving outstanding support and service. Industry exposure includes: Mining, Food & Beverage, Steel & Aluminium, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Pulp & Paper, Automotive, Transportation, Cementation, Building Service and General Manufacturing.

Grant HealeyNational Product Manager Wireless Monitoring Systems

Grant is a qualified Mechanical Technician with qualifications in NDT, Vibration Analysis VCATIII, Lubrication LCATI and Thermography TCAT I.
For the last 20 years Grant has provided condition-based and predictive-based maintenance inspection and support activities across mining, petrochemical, oil and gas, power generation and general manufacturing.

Use Case - Karl Radke – Condition Monitoring Technician at Infrabuild Sydney Steel Works.

Karl is a Trade Qualified Fitter/Machinist/Welder with an Advanced Certificate in Engineering, Vibration Analyst Level 2, Oil Analyst Level 2, Thermographer Level 1.
He has been the CM Tech at the Mill for 11 years.

 Motion Amplification

Motion Amplification is a revolutionary video-processing product and software package that detects subtle motion and amplifies that motion to a level visible with the naked eye. Every pixel becomes a sensor creating millions of data points in an instant. It allows users to see the complex interactions between machines, structures, pipework etc. and immediately identify potential issues. All the user has to do is point the camera at an asset take video data and then push a button to amplify the true motion of the entire field of view. With motion amplification you can open up the world of the unseen.

Andrew Gale - Technical Director, Optical Motion Technologies

Andrew is a professional consultant and manager with over 35 years experience in the provision of Predictive Maintenance (PdM) Technologies and Services to the Industrial Maintenance sector. Industry exposure includes: Mining, Food & Beverage, Steel & Aluminium, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Pulp & Paper, Automotive, Transportation, Cementation, Building Service and General Manufacturing.

Andrew’s qualifications and vocational experience include; Certificate of Technology (Mechanical), Diploma of Business, and Vibration Analyst VCATIII.
For the last 6 years Andrew has partnered with GVS Reliability Products in bringing RDI’s pioneering Motion Amplification® technology to the Oceania region.

Use Case - Stefan Minnaar - Condition Monitoring Technician, INPEX

Stefan has been working in the condition monitoring field since 1994 and started his condition monitoring career in the power generation industry, he spent more than 13 years in coal- as well as 3 years in iron ore opencast mining in South Africa and Australia.
He had the responsibility of implementing condition monitoring programs (vibration-, lubrication-, performance monitoring- and NDT) on various sites across different industries. Stefan has been employed in the LNG industry since 2007 where he is responsible for the condition monitoring programs that covers a significant integrated online monitoring system on GE frame and aero-derivative turbines, various centrifugal- & axial compressors, cryogenic expander, pumps and ancillary equipment.
Stefan specialises in vibration (turbo-machinery rotor-dynamic analysis via BN and B&K (as well as balance of plant), thermographic analysis, motion amplification, airborne ultrasonic, rotating equipment inspection of turbo-machinery, lubrication analysis and has an in depth knowledge of API, ISO and relevant standards.

 Ultrasound

Ultrasound is considered the first line of defense for finding defects that can lead to asset failure.
The first signs of change in the operating condition of an asset are usually indicated in the ultrasound frequencies.
Here we will explore the use of this technology in leak detection in both pressure and vacuum leaks, and optimised lubrication of bearings to avoid under/over lubrication and tailored relubrication intervals.

Stephen ReadNational Product Manager SDT Ultrasound Systems

Stephen is a professional consultant and manager with over 40 years experience in the provision of Predictive Maintenance (PdM) Technologies and Services to the Industrial Maintenance sector.
Industry exposure includes: Mining, Timber, Food & Beverage, Maritime, Steel, Power Generation, Pulp & Paper, Automotive, Building Service and General Manufacturing.
Stephen’s qualifications and experience include; dual mechanical trade certificates, and Vibration Analyst VCATII.

About SIRF Roundtable Events

All SIRF Rt events are designed to provide a safe environment for open discussion with peers on the topic of interest they are working on, in and around. Roundtable Events like this one are where we get our name from, and they are organised around a topic or theme. Several speakers will present for between 20 and 45 minutes, with a time period for questions. During the event our expert facilitators will also conduct short roundtable discussions on different aspects or parts of the topic/theme throughout the day. There will be numerous opportunities for networking and sharing best practices. These are our premier local events, so don’t miss out!
