SIRF OERt Workshop |Tomago Smelter Continuous Improvement Framework
Event description
Tomago Smelter Continuous Improvement Framework
In this SIRF workshop, Sandy Quirino, Tomago Continuous Improvement Superintendent, will share the Continuous Improvement Framework in use at Tomago Aluminium, Australia's largest aluminium smelter.
Tomago have been based in the Hunter Region of NSW for more than 30 years, their success is built on the excellence, determination, and enthusiasm of their people, making them one of the industry’s most dynamic and innovative manufacturers of aluminium.
While the theory of LEAN and Continuous Improvement is well documented and somewhat relatively easy to understand, the real art of C.I. and LEAN is in the implementation.
One critical aspect of this is having a C.I. framework that is both effective and easy to understand by and communicate to all in the workforce.
Sandy will cover the Tomago Continuous Improvement Framework which has an emphasis on simplicity for understanding and engagement. She will cover the C.I. Routines and Habits established at Tomago that embed C.I. into the Tomago workplace culture. She will cover how Tomago develop and assess Continuous Improvement projects to have a Pipeline for Improvements. Importantly, she will cover the Tomago approach to engage the work teams and individuals in having a passion for the projects they are accountable for and also be actively engaged to complete the actions on the to do list.
This workshop will have an opportunity to discuss other C.I. frameworks used by other SIRF members in attendance and share elements that are working, hurdles overcome for all to learn.
