The BLAQ DIAMONDS Women Empowerment's Sistas Kaimel Business Gathering is a three-day event (Tuesday 2nd June 2026 - Thursday 4th June, 2026) created to inspire, empower and equip Torres Strait Islander women with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to turn their dreams into thriving businesses. This is BDWE's 2nd Sistas in Business Event.

Whether you’re an aspiring entrepreneur, start-up founder, or a woman with a hobby you want to grow into a business, this gathering is for you. Together, we’ll create a culturally safe, supportive space to share knowledge, build networks and spark opportunities for women-led business growth across the Torres Strait.

This gathering is more than an event—it’s a movement of Torres Strait women standing strong in business and leadership, shaping a future of economic independence, cultural pride, and community empowerment.

📌 Important Information

• Eligibility: This event is for Torres Strait Islander women only (aspiring entrepreneurs, start-ups, or hobbyists wanting to build a business).

• Age Limit: For women aged 18 years and older. Children 5 years and up are not permitted. Women with babies may attend, however no childminding services will be provided (unless family on TI can support).

• Spots Available: Limited to 30 women only.

• Travel & Accommodation: Support will be provided for women travelling from outer islands to attend on Thursday Island.

Who can attend this event?
Torres Strait Islander women who are aspiring entrepreneurs, start-ups, or who have a hobby they want to turn into a business.

Is this for established businesses?
No. This gathering is focused on early-stage journeys—those who are just starting out or want to grow a small idea.

Can I bring my children?
Children aged 5 years and above cannot attend. Babies can attend with their mothers, however, no childminding services will be available. If you have family on Thursday Island, you may wish to arrange care to fully participate.

Is support available for women from outer islands?
Yes. Support for travel and accommodation will be provided for women coming from outer islands.

How many places are available?
Spaces are limited to 30 women only, so register your interest early.
