After an incredible response last year, SITCOM is returning for NSW Youth Week 2025.

SITCOM brings situation-comedy to the stage. Featuring two original sitcom scripts performed by actors from the PYT Ensemble in a LIVE studio-audience setting, filmed by Curiously West Film Club. This event aims to create hands-on experience for both artists and audience members alike, inviting you to help shape the scene in real time. 

Hosted by PYT Fairfield, SITCOM aims to champion Western Sydney’s emerging creative talent and bring a new generation of voices to the stage and screens.

Duration
3 Hours, with a 20 minute interval.
Light refreshments will be served during the interval.

We’re looking for writers to create a 5-minute sitcom script for this year’s SITCOM Event!

Your script must:

1. Be set entirely in a dining room
2. Feature 4 characters (2 male identifying, 2 female identifying)
3. Can be either a light-hearted comedy or take a dark/black comedy approach
4. Have a strong comedic structure and engaging character dynamics
5. Contain themes appropriate for a Youth Week Event

The story can be about anything, as long as the scene stays within the dining room setting and remains suitable for a youth-focused audience.

This is a Youth Week Event, we are prioritising submissions from young and emerging Western Sydney writers (aged 30 and under). If this sounds like you, we encourage you to apply!

This is a PAID opportunity - the writers of the two selected scripts will receive $400 each, and have their scenes performed and workshopped as part of our SITCOM event in front of a LIVE Studio audience filmed by Curiously West Film Club.

The Fairfield School of Arts is located at 19 Harris Street, Fairfield NSW 2165.

The distance to Fairfield train station is 350 metres, a 5 minute walk.

There is parking in surrounding streets and in Downey Lane Car Park.
