Six Season Walks 2024 - Birak

On this community walk, learn about the culture and language of the Noongar people. We will be in the season of Birak. The six seasons played an integral role in the yearly cycle of travel and resource collection for Noongar people and now we can all better appreciate their connection to Country. The event will incorporate information information and moments for sharing as we explore the bushland of Woodman Point and learn about the importance of the area's flora and fauna.

The City of Cockburn is excited to host the Birak walk along the beautiful coastline, where the community will learn about the seasonal cultural significance of the area from Mitchell Garlett

The walk will take approximately 1.5 hrs and include stops along the way. Walkers will need to bring along a water bottle, a hat and wear suitable shoes for walking. Please note that these events are fluid, and each walk is slightly different - depending on the weather, the flora and fauna that we may see and the questions that are asked. Please join us for a cuppa and a yarn afterwards.
