Sketchbook & Gouache Introduction: the art of loosening up to document our natural world
Event description
Join local Ipswich artist Kathryn Neilsen for a 4 hour workshop exploring the practice of keeping a sketchbook and using water based mediums to document the natural elements of everyday life.
Two ticket options
$65 - teaching only. You supply your own artist grade sketchbook, water based paints, and pens.
$120 - teaching and materials supplied for you to take home after the workshop. This will include an artist made concertina sketchbook, 6 x pans of Gansai Tambi paint, a water brush, and a black fine liner.
The workshop will cover some introductory exercises for colour, tone, and water control, as well as some fun exercises to ‘loosen up’. We will spend approximately 30 minutes outside painting weather permitting, so a hat and water bottle is suggested.
Grab a coffee locally before we start (I suggest Shortblack coffee!) & arrive 5-10 minutes early to settle in. We have a large gorgeous studio to work in, with lots of artwork currently on display.
This workshop is presented as a part of Neilsens residency within the Ipswich workshop space.
