Rediscover your creativity or start your sketch & wash journey from scratch in the beautiful Adelaide Hills.

Whether you are picking up pen and brush for the first time or looking to update your drawing and painting skills, this adult beginner friendly drawing and wash short course is the perfect space to explore different forms of creative expression. Over four 2 hour sessions, you will build confidence, learn core techniques, and discover some of the fun aspects of expressive pen and wash sketching.

What you will learn

Sketch & wash

We will break down the beautiful complexities of watercolour painting into simplified wash techniques you can use in conjunction with the sketching and mark making techniques we will be covering. Throughout the course we will cover: Drawing fundamentals for sketching: Learn how to draw quickly from observation, and use various drawing methods to gain insight into representing shape and proportion accurately. Wet vs. Dry Techniques: Discover how water volume changes everything. Master the soft, bleeding edges of wet-on-wet painting, and the crisp, precise details of wet-on-dry. Expressive Mark Making & Brush Work: Break free from rigid lines. Learn how to make loose, natural, and interesting marks with both your drawing and watercolour materials. 🧳 Materials & Ticketing Options: Please choose the ticket option that suits you best: BYO Materials Ticket: Perfect if you already have your own watercolour and drawing supplies at home. I am a local artist in the Adelaide Hills region and have been teaching kids and adults for 9 years. I have a Bachelor degree in Visual Arts and Design and my main arts practice involves watercolours and drawing. I have strong passion for and focus on Australian wildlife and bush habitat and this often comes through in my art class themes. My teaching approach involves nurturing and building creative confidence as well as general technical skill. I believe the key to unlocking ones creative abilities is to first trust and believe in yourself and ignore negative self talk, this is also an important rule for life in general. I run term classes, one off workshops, council workshops and School holiday kid's programs and I try to cover a wide array of materials and approaches in all of my workshops.
