Event description

An initiative of the Tourism Industry Council Tasmania, Skilled in Sixty is a webinar series designed to deliver 60-minute, bite-sized information sessions on topics that matter to Tassie tourism operators.

Our August webinar will focus on the key changes to the Fair Work Act, applicable from the 26th of August 2024, and how these changes will affect employers - including the use of contractors.

Understanding new employer requirements under the Fair Work Act

Stacey Joseph from the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will address the following, and share her expert advice:

Do you employ casuals? New definition of casual employees- coming into effect from 26 August, employers need to ensure when employing casuals that they meet the new definition

Contacting employees outside of working hours? New Right to Disconnect legislation sets out the circumstances when it is reasonable to contact employees out of their normal working hours

Using Independent Contractors? New multi factor test to determine if your contractors are in fact employees, if you get it wrong you may have to pay penalties

Wage and super theft - Have you reviewed employee pay rates and classifications recently, significant penalties apply if you get it wrong

This session is FREE for TICT Accredited Operators and Members, and a small $25 fee for non-accredited operators.
