Event description

Part of The Portland Jewish Music Festival!

Good Music for Bad Times

These days it can be hard to catch a break! Sometimes you just feel like you need to put your whole existence in a washing machine and run it on high - luckily we’ve prepared an evening of music designed to do exactly that.  Featuring legendary Klezmatics members Frank London (Trumpet, Keyboard) and Lorin Sklamberg (Vocals, Accordion) plus Northwest favorites Lori Goldston (Cello) and Craig Judelman (Violin) this will be an evening to remember, full of inspiring klezmer music, cathartic Yiddish songs, deep Hasidic nigunim and more.

As The Klezmatics prepare to celebrate 40 years of incredible music, join this all-star band for a unique perspective on Yiddish music, simultaneously deeply rooted in the tradition but free of kitsch or politeness. Yiddish culture has survived centuries of war, displacement, repression, fascism and more, providing us with the tools to not just survive, but be strengthened in our steadfastness and opposition to tyranny. Sing with us, feel with us, and lay your burden down, at least for one night!
