Sky Observing Nights

Join us for a free sky observing night! This program is offered twice, Oct. 2, repeating Oct. 16.

The program starts in the Planetarium with an extended sky talk. We’ll discuss what is visible in the night sky that evening, with an extra focus on deep sky objects that are observable with telescopes. After the sky talk, around 7:15 pm, we drive to Washington Crossing State Park, where the Amateur Astronomer’s Association of Princeton has the Simpson Observatory. We’ll use the historic telescopes they maintain to view the objects discussed at the planetarium. Dress warmly as it cools off significantly after sunset!

If the weather does not cooperate, the extended star talk will be followed by our newest show, “Encounters in the Milky Way,” a show produced by the American Museum of Natural History.

This is an all-ages event, but the sky talk is approximately 45 minutes long. Children under 8 years of age might find it a little long.
