Travel instructions
Dancenorth is located at the corner of Stanley Street and Walker Street in Townsville City. The main entrance is on Stanley Street. Stanley Street is a main road with a slight incline (it rises towards Castle Hill). When you arrive, look for a red brick building with the words ‘School of Arts’ on the front. This is Dancenorth. Travelling by bus: Dancenorth Australia is a 2-minute walk from the Townsville City (Stanley Street) hail 'n' ride bus stop, located on Stanley Street. The bus stop is directly across the road from Dancenorth. To reach Dancenorth, you will need to cross the road at the traffic lights. To return to the bus stop, you will need to cross back at the same traffic lights. Travelling by car, Taxi or rideshare: If you are arriving by car, taxi, or rideshare, you can ask the driver to stop in the drop-off area outside the Clarion Hotel on Stanley Street. The drop-off area is 50 metres away from the main entrance of Dancenorth.
Entry instructions
The main entrance to Dancenorth is at the front of the building, located on Stanley street. To enter Dancenorth via the main entrance: - Walk up three steps at the front of the building. - Then, walk along a flat veranda. - Next, walk up two more steps. - Finally, enter through the front doors to get inside the building. To enter Dancenorth via the accessible entrance: - The accessibility lift is located on the left-hand side of the building. The lift will take you up to the veranda. - To enter the Dancenorth building, use the ramp at the far end of the veranda. The ramp will bring you to the far right-hand side of the main foyer, where the toilets are located.
After entry instructions
Once inside, you will find the main foyer on the ground floor. The main foyer contains the office, the bar and casual seating area, the toilets, and the entrance to the Theatre. The entrance to the Theatre is located towards the back of the main foyer, opposite the main entrance/front door.
Hazards
During events, the area around and inside Dancenorth may be noisy, bright, busy and smelly.
Toilet location
Accessible toilet: The accessible toilet is located on the right-hand side of the main foyer. There is one accessible toilet in the building. It is on the same side of the building as the front entrance and veranda. Other toilets: Opposite the accessible toilet are the all-gender bathrooms. Some of these bathrooms have stalls and urinals. Others have stalls only. Signage and access: There is signage on the walls outside the bathroom doors, indicating which facilities are in each bathroom. Please Note: All visitors are welcome to use the bathroom of their choice.
Accessible parking
The nearest street parking is along Stanley Street and Walker Street. These parking spots are metered and have time limits on weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Booking Accessible Seating
Accessible seating is available for performances in the theatre. The accessible seats are located in the front row, level with the stage. These seats cannot be booked online.
