Event description

Discover the science of Victoria’s wildlife in these free online workshops.

Zoos Victoria's 'School Readers' series is launching in 2022. These five books will develop Foundation-Year 2 students’ Science knowledge and Literacy skills through the stories of endangered animals.

To celebrate, free 30-minute online workshops are being offered during Book Week from August 22-26.

During this particular online workshop, Foundation-Year 2 students will:

  • Learn about the features and basic needs of the Alpine She-oak Skink
  • Discover the habitat of a Skink
  • Find out how people use science in their daily lives
  • Ask their science questions to zoo experts via the Q&A box

Workshop content will be repeated each time. There are two workshops offered each day to cater for a range of school timetables. Workshops are hosted on Zoom with child-safe security measures in place.

Zoos Victoria Readers come with a suite of teaching resources that includes reader books, eBooks, animal toolkits, Science teaching guides and teacher professional development.
There are also more online workshops on offer! Visit Zoos Victoria's website to find out more - https://www.zoo.org.au/education/zvreaders/
