SLOW GRIND COUNTRY & WESTERN (PRESTON, VIC)
Event description
The smokiest slow dance in town saddles up for a night of SLOW GRIND COUNTRY & WESTERN at our favourite on-the-down-low Preston party spot. That most magic and mysterious of old time country blues singers ARCHER takes a break for organising celebrities to cook for his disabled cow (search COOKING FOR SEAMUS if you don't know what i'm talking about) and trips down from the countryside to serenade us with his remarkable songs in a backyard round-the-campfire session at 8pm, before we head up to the smokey dance room and slow dance to sultry and swoony country & western gems from DJs Richie1250, James Ellis and DJ Salooney Tunes until 1am.
NOTES:
- This dance has an earlier start and finish than usual (7PM-1AM). Try to get there by 8 to see ARCHER perform live around the campfire in the backyard, he is PURE MAGIC
- Address of the venue will be sent to ticket holders on the day (it's in Preston close to the corner of Bell and High)
- This is a licensed event with full bar, not BYO
- There will be a smoke machine going all night and it will get very smokey. The smoke is non-toxic but if you ain't into smoke machines this might not be the party for you...
- The dance floor at Slow Grind is for dancing. If you need to use your phone or have a conversation with someone, please do it over in the hallway or go outside and get some fresh air. (We don't mind you taking a quick photo or video to post up later on, but standing in the middle of the dancefloor staring down at your phone or having an extended loud conversation is poor Slow Grind etiquette and distracts people trying to focus on the music)
- Slow Grind is not specifically a partnered dancing event. Some people dance with a partner, some with a group of friends, some alone with their eyes closed. You can do it how you wanna.
- The vibe of the night is very hazy and sultry, but the vibe is also about having good manners. Don't be all up in someone's personal space if they aren't inviting you.
