Event description

Join us for our second "Smart Lighting, Smarter Cities" symposium, hosted by ERW Lighting and Controls, sponsored by Genlyte Solutions by Signify—your chance to explore cutting-edge innovations in resilient outdoor city lighting and controls. Spend the morning learning as top industry experts reveal how smart lighting solutions can enhance city infrastructure by improving public safety, reducing energy consumption, uniting communities, and creating vibrant, welcoming spaces for residents and visitors alike.

City planners, engineers, consultants, and all guests will gain actionable insights to implement smart, efficient, and future-focused lighting solutions in their communities. Enjoy a light breakfast, hot drinks, and snacks as part of the experience.

Featured Speakers:

  • Nick Mesler, Director at Evari Consulting, will share his data-driven approach to street lighting design and building livable communities. With a background in transportation safety and mobility planning, Nick will provide insights from his work on large-scale street lighting projects across the U.S.
  • Lya S. Osborn of Light Justice is a multidisciplinary designer, writer, literary translator, and environmental justice advocate in Seattle, WA. Lya is a co-founder of LightJustice.org, which works to make social advocacy resources accessible to the lighting community and beyond. She also serves as the North America Regional Director for Unolai Lighting Design, contributing to a diverse range of international projects and award-winning design efforts over the past nine years. Lya received a double MFA in Lighting Design and Interior Design from Parsons The New School for Design, where her thesis work challenged the industry norms and incentives which have traditionally defined a designer’s role in society, proposing alternate modes of directing design resources to historically disadvantaged populations. Lya is a member of the International Association of Lighting Designers, the Illuminating Engineering Society, and the International Dark Sky Association, and is Community Friendly Lighting Certified.
