Differentiate outputs from outcomes and build indicators of change

Event description

This is the second webinar in the series “SMART IMPACT - Capacity building tools to achieve and measure social outcomes”.
After learning how to define your issue, and build your own Theory of Change (Webinar 1 in this series), we will now take a deep dive into defining sound, clear and measurable outcomes.

In the social sector, it’s getting more and more common to hear words such as outcomes, outputs, monitoring and evaluation. During this webinar you will become friends (maybe even BFFs, why not?) with these terms by understanding their meaning and by learning how to build them!

This interactive online session is designed for all-sized NFPs, Social Enterprises and Government Agencies. Leverage your team’s capabilities to take action and achieve measurable results.

During this interactive webinar you will learn the following:

  • Outputs vs Outcomes. Learn the key differences between these two key evaluation elements.
  • Indicators - what they are and how to build them. Create your own set of indicators to prove and track if your outcomes are happening.
  • Social Impact - make it happen and learn to measure it! Embed what you learn into your evaluation strategy draft.

FAQs
-
Must I have taken the first webinar of this series to participate in this one?
Ideally, but not a must. You will definitely get a better grasp of some aspects of our narrative if you have taken the first webinar of our series. Nevertheless,  if you already have a clear understanding of the key concepts of a Theory of Change, we encourage you to jump directly to the second one.

-Who in my organisation should take this series of webinars?
We invite everyone in your organisation to be part of our webinars, regardless of their role - a team aligned with your goals will always make a greater impact.
While having everyone on board is ideal, we could say that people involved with strategic planning, raising funds, and delivering services are the ones who will get the most benefit from this series. We welcome General Managers, Social Workers, Community Development Managers, Program Coordinators, Project Workers, Researchers, among others.

-What can I expect from these webinars?
A hands-on approach. We understand theory is important but we also like having a learn-by-doing approach. You can expect didactic activities from which you will not only learn the terminology but also the practice. We also like deconstructing technicalities to make them more approachable to everyone in your team.

-What participants say about our webinars...
“I really appreciated the pace of the session, the focus on 'doing' rather than just listening to the information.”
“Practical and very easy to follow”
