SmileWave Australia Info Session | Spreading Smiles Like A Pandemic
Online Event
Event description
In October 2023 I caught a smile from a laughing couple who were sitting in their parked car.
As I smiled, I felt really good; there was a warm, pleasant sensation in my chest. I'm sure I was glowing!
I couldn't help but share my smile with the next person I passed.
When they smiled back, that felt good too!
I continued my morning walk with a smile yet started noticing many people who passed by that were not smiling.
I thought to myself:
Then I had an idea:
My idea has developed into a project to spread more smiles (like a Mexican wave!) across Australia.
By catching and sharing smiles to each other, I believe this can help people in our communities feel more connected and enjoy a nice feeling like I had.
The project is called “SmileWave Australia"
I'm inviting other smiley people who are keen to join our team of SmileWave leaders.
As leaders, we can ensure this projects makes a difference in people's lives across Australia; creating more connection and spreading nice feelings through smiles.
Details So Far
An aim of the project is to have at least 10 leaders per
state / territory across Australia.
There's a free Facebook Group for leaders and the wider community to join and stay up-to-date with the project.
Join here: www.facebook.com/groups/smilew...
Other ideas:
- Leaders spread the word about the project to the greater community, inspiring people to participate.
- The project runs in January 2024
- Participants may choose one day or multiple days in January to participate.
- Participants commit to making eye contact and smiling with everyone they pass in a one hour block... and note their reaction.
-
Tally up the number of smiles shared in a one hour block eg 30 out of 50 people smiled
- Take note of how you feel before and after the one hour block. Did sharing smiles make you feel different?
