This on-demand webinar provides information to help build your confidence in the area of understanding how closely related communication and behavioural challenges can be.

We will be looking at the why behind some of our students' behavioural challenges. These could be outward behaviours like hitting, yelling, or biting or they could be more inward like shutting down, avoiding things, or making mistakes on person.

We will be discussing masking which is when students try to hide or mask their difficulties, needs, or emotional states.

We will talking about why behaviour can be a sign of students seeking clarity and social connection rather than framing things as seeking attention.

Presenter

Shannon Hennig is a registered speech-language therapist who specialises in neurodiversity, inclusive education practice, assistive technology, and communication challenges. She has wealth of knowledge around how to support young people with language and communication needs. She has 20 years of professional experience working in classrooms in both primary and secondary. She is known for providing informative PLD content that emphasises practical strategies that can immediately be put into practice.
